Satara Gears Up for a Tech Transformation with New IT Park

Satara, Maharashtra – A new era of growth is on the horizon for Satara as the Maharashtra government officially greenlights the development of an Information Technology (IT) Park in the region. Spread across 42 hectares in Nagewadi, this ambitious project is set to drive industrial expansion and place Satara firmly on the map as an emerging technology hub.

The IT Park is part of a broader strategy aimed at promoting economic development in tier-two cities and reducing the concentration of industries in overcrowded metro areas like Pune and Mumbai. With this move, Satara joins the ranks of cities like Nashik and Kolhapur that are being actively developed as next-generation industrial and tech centers.

The project has gained strong political and administrative backing, with Industry Minister Uday Samant and Public Works Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale playing key roles in its approval. The state’s allocation of land is already complete, and the formal land transfer process is expected to follow shortly.

Local leaders anticipate the park will create substantial employment opportunities, especially for the youth of Satara, while fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. To support its long-term success, the government plans to establish essential infrastructure such as roads, utilities, and employee amenities, making the park a fully-equipped environment for IT firms and startups.

During a recent press conference, Satara MP Udayanraje Bhosale provided insights into the project’s progress. He highlighted ongoing efforts to decentralize industrial growth across Maharashtra and revealed discussions with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Bhosale also reached out to Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murthy to gain perspective from the success of the IT Park in Hubli, Karnataka.

“Pune has limited space for further industrial expansion, which is why Satara has emerged as a strategic alternative,” Bhosale said. “Proposals have been submitted to both the Chief Minister and the Industries Minister, and we are committed to seeing this through.”

In addition to economic development, Bhosale also emphasized the importance of cultural preservation. He proposed converting Satara’s historic palace into a museum, underscoring the need for urgent government action to restore and protect the region’s architectural heritage.

The announcement was made during an event held at the Ayurvedic Garden in Godoli, where the Late Shri Chhatrapati Pratapsingh Maharaj (Dada Maharaj) Library was inaugurated in his memory. The event reflected Satara’s unique position — a city that honors its past while preparing for a digitally empowered future.

As Maharashtra continues to shift focus toward tier-two cities, the Satara IT Park represents more than just infrastructure—it signals a bold step toward balanced, inclusive, and future-ready development.
